Rolla Lions Club honors Rolla High class of 2008
The Rolla Lions Club honored the Rolla High School graduating class of 2008
with a luncheon at Lions Memorial Field on Tuesday. After the morning’s
thunderstorm rolled through, blue skies opened and the Lions Club members
fired up grills to treat the students to hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst,
and chicken breasts, along with potato chips, baked beans, apple cobbler and
ice cream.
“This is our way of showing support and appreciation to the graduating
seniors as they move on toward college and their careers,” said Lions
Vice-president Jim Fels.
During the luncheon, seniors were issued a ticket as they went through the
serving line and many were surprised with the 70-plus door prizes being offered.
“I have many people and businesses I would like to thank. Their support
and generosity helped us make this a great day for the senior class at RHS.”
said Fels, who chaired the event.
Sponsoring businesses for the meal included Pepsi-Cola, Butternut Bread, and
Kingsford Charcoal Company. Door prize sponsors were The Reader’s Corner,
Key Sport Shop, Family Video, the Centre, Alex’s Pizza, LaPosada, El
Maguey, Dairy Queen, Forum Cinema, Lee’s Chicken, Maid Rite, Domino’s,
Pizza Inn, Mobile Gateway, Pizza Hut, El Rodeo, Imo’s Pizza, and Brewer
Science.
“Again, I want to thank these businesses for helping us honor these students. The Lions support the community and we want to wish these seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors.” said Fels.
